Game data

Bug Garden does not require an account. Participant names, award presenters, language preference and scores are stored in your browser's local storage. Shared links include the game configuration in the URL fragment after the # symbol; browsers do not send that fragment to the server when loading the page.

Technical data

The hosting service may process IP address, access time and basic device information to deliver content, protect the site and operate the service. The website may load fonts from Google Fonts.

Advertising and cookies

If Google AdSense is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure and personalize ads according to a user's consent choices. In regions that require consent, the site will show privacy controls before serving relevant advertising.

Google and third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalized ads at Google My Ad Center.

Usage measurement

The website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure visits and actions such as adding a list, opening tools, starting a round, generating a random pick, completing a round, replaying and sharing. Google Analytics may use cookies and process device, browser and visit information. Game events include page context, play mode, participant count, bug count and whether a demo list is being used; they do not include names or list contents. Analytics page URLs are stripped of query strings and fragments. Google Signals and ad personalization signals are disabled. A shared link that contains names can be read by anyone who receives the link, so do not share sensitive information.

See Google's privacy policy and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Contact form

The contact and feedback form is hosted by Google Forms. Anything you submit there, including a name or email address you choose to enter, is stored by Google under Google's privacy policy. Bug Garden only reads the responses to answer questions and improve the game.

Your choices

You can clear game data by deleting website data in your browser. You can also decline or change advertising choices through the consent panel when that feature is enabled.
